Looking good… Still having column size issues and it doesnt save my column size.
Does this great plugin work with Mail 3.0 under Leopard?
You’re awesome! I was waiting this kind of plug-in since upgraded to Leo. Please accept my little donation as a thanks!
great work!

Finally! A viable alternative to Letterbox (which is still stuck under Tiger)
Have tried both 0.0.3 and 0.0.5 and neither display my email – both display the other columns (From. subject, Date, etc. What can I do to get my email to display along side the columns? PS I much prefer the single-line version.
@Becky: How do you mean it doesnt display your email? does it not display the message on the right side?
It may be that the panel has collapsed, move your cursor to the far right of the window and the cursor should change to a left-right arrow, double-click and the panel should expand.
any chance the sender name could be bolded? hard to see in the double-line view.
Thanks Dane …
The message window pane was collapsed and email messages were opening in a separate window. As you suggested, double-clicking on right edge’s 2-way arrow cursor opened the message pane. Messages now open there – not in a separate window – and all is well. Thanks again!
I love the plugin- using it daily in Leopard. One issue with it : under sent mail- when viewing sent mail messages, the primary thing I am looking for is the person I sent the message to (the TO: field)- and this is not visible using the plugin. Maybe switch the subject field to display the recipient under sent items instead of sender. Thanks again!
@jason jones: This bug will be fixed in the next release.
don’t bother, just use thunderbird instead.
Kermit – the trouble with using Thunderbird is that you cannot search for messages in any folder like you can with Apple Mail, neither are messages searchable with Spotlight. Furthermore, Apples’s Services Menu items mostly do not work with Thunderbird. Currently the Mozilla apps like Firefox and Thunderbird sit rather awkwardly in Mac OS X.
Dave. The problem for me is that the unread message counter for each mailfolder does not display using your plugin – I can’t see at a glance which folders contain messages I need to read..
@Dave: To fix your problem just resize the mailbox left slightly and the unread counters will appear.
Dane
Thanks. Looking in ~/Library/Mail I realised that Aaron harnly’s Letterbox was still enabled – this bundle has issues with Leopard.
One I uninstalled Widemail, removed Letterbox and reinstalled Widemail I got the unread counters. Harnly’s bundle does not allow any resizing so that alerted me to the problem when I couldn’t resize the mailbox as you advised.
Phillip – I think you can search messages in thunderbird in any folder you like. About services, who uses them?
When you enter a search term in Thunderbird it searches only the current folder. I have lots of folders for all sorts of things and need a global search.
If you don’t use Apple’s Services you are missing out on a lot of functionality. Just two examples. I can select a section of text, go to Services menu, select Convert and do all manner of things to that text. You can download additional services – the guys behind DevonThink do a free service called Word Service. This allows me to do several things like, for example, to select an email which contains a section which has several layers of quoting and remove all the quotes in one easy go. I use this quite a bit. Those funny emails people send you are usually a complete mess of quotes by the time you get them. I like to clean them up before I send them on.
The great thing about these services is that they are available across Mac OS X, apart from apps like Thunderbird, Firefox etc. – so an application’s functionality can be greatly extended, unlike MS Windows where one app may allow you to do some of these things, but another app doesn’t and so on. Word count springs to mind
Hi,
This is Great work!! I love it so much…. just only one thing I don ‘t know how to change it. Maybe some other people have told you. How do I adjust the size of the row. It seems to have 2-line, but I just need one line. Can I change it?
Thanks so much for your hard work
Love this plug-in. I color-code my messages according to account, but the color appears in every column except the widemail column. Any tips on how to overcome this?
Like the program, but one question. Is there a way to resize the depth of the blue and white lines in which messages are displayed. When you first open Mail with the WideMail plugin installed, the rows are a nice height. Then they double in height once populated. It would be nice if they could narrower. the extra space waists a lot of window real estate when you’re dealing with a lot of messages or RSS feeds. Any chance of modifying?
Sorry, please disregard my previous note. I should have read the release notes where it said if I didn’t want the two line message view to download a previous version. Before I download, two questions: Is 0.3 Leopard compatible. And does it also have the blue oval highlight on messages? If yes to both, is there a way to get the oval to fill the message line rectangle or to toggle off that feature? Sorry, guess that was three questions.

I just installed “WideMail-0.1.2″ on Mail 3.1 on Leopard (10.5.1) and it appeared for an instant, then disappeared!
Tried uninstalling and re-installing, but it won’t appear.
I do have MailUnreadMenu 2.5.1 installed as well – is this why it won’t work?
I love this Mail bundle, which is the best out there.
Lately I have had one issue, however. When changing different accounts “view by” sometimes I cannot return to the default, which is WideMail. For example, in my personal account, the default reverts back to view by “Attachments” no matter what. I have tried quitting after changing to view by “Widemail” but that hangs the Mail application, and the change does not hold. Any ideas? I’ve already done an uninstall/reinstall earlier to correct this problem.
Lastly, should users NOT change view by settings? I find them quite useful to check flagged items or to look for that missing attachment.
