  1. Rober Günther says:

First, thank you for this great tool.
    I installed widemail 0.5 on my powerbook g4 12″ OSX 10.5.2 german.
When i change something in the preferences, i can’t reopen mail after closing it.
I have to uninstall widemail to open it again.

    Regards, Robert

  2. Dane Harnett says:

    Rober:

Can you send me the listing in Console to daneharnett@gmail.com?

    Just open Console from /Applications/Utilities/Console.app

    Cheers,

    Dane

  3. Jan says:

I’m experiencing the same problem like Robert!
After the first start everything is alright but when I close Mail and try to reopen it, the Mail window won’t show up.
On the other hand, a friend of mine experienced the same problem, but after a numerous time of installing and uninstalling the problem was fixed.

  6. zxspectrum says:

Thank you:) This release is really impressive.

*is there any way that you can push the ‘Line two text’ (i use it to show the date..) as close as possible to the ‘Divider’?

**using the ‘flexible space’ is o.k, but it’s still far for the ‘Divider’ by approximately 95px…i think that around 10px+- will be ideal.

    thanks,
    zx

  7. Kevin says:

    Great update!!!

Agreed… The space after the “Widemail” field before the divider it to large. Should be 0 pixels unless we add space in the options/format.

Also, email colors are not respected by the “widemail” field. Colors applied to email messages only show on the original mail fields (If viewing those fields), and if you remove all the normal mail fields the color shows up to the left (Ugly).

    Again, GREAT UPDATE, totally usable!

  8. Kevin says:

After further testing. Looks like the “The space after the “Widemail” field before the divider it to large. Should be 0 pixels unless we add space in the options/format.” Is actually 0 pixels as long as I remove all fields, then re-add normal fields. Would like to REMOVE all fields, but message color gets ugly.

  9. Ido says:

seems like a great alternative to letterbox now that I am on leopard.
However, after installing I don’t get the two lines display and there is no
new Widemail Column in my columns list…

    any suggestions?

  10. jrk says:

There appears to be a rendering bug in the new version:

When expanding or collapsing threads in “organize by thread” view, the rows jump around inappropriately during the expand/collapse animation. It at least appears that, during the animation, Mail renders the thread’s rows in their traditional (pre-WideMail) single line height, so the positions of everything jump around from their two-line spacing, to single-line spacing while animating, and back to two-line spacing at the end.

  11. Guru says:

    Hi!
    Great App THX

But I have the same problem as Rober Günther

When I change something ist crashes and I have to unsinstall the app.

If I don tuninstall it Mail won t work…

  12. Steven Day says:

Wow! I really love this update. My only regret is losing Rules that color text according to sender’s domain name, user name, and priority. I see that text color can be selected under preferences, but that seems to make my rules concerning specific text colors unusable. Any way to override this?

Meantime, thanks for a great update.

  13. Paul says:

I’m not seeing the second line in the message listing, nor do I see the column title. I’ve tried resetting to defaults and refreshing Mail.

  14. Bast says:

It’s seems (curiously) to be crashing with a second box. I have 2 boxes in Mail. One works perfectly, but the second (gmail) crashes every time I click on it.

  15. Stephan says:

Here i’m not able to put 2 lines in the Mail windows.
    Someone have the solution?

  16. A says:

Brilliant update. One quick bug: mail.app seems to freeze for quite a few seconds when scrolling through lists of messages.

  17. realSMILEY says:

I unfortunately also don’t get the 2nd column, what makes WideMail useless. I am using newest Mail on Leopard / German Language. Any idea?

  18. realSMILEY says:

sorry, I meant 2nd row, not column!

  19. Rein says:

Great update. Everything works as expected. Many thanks.

  20. Ashley says:

    Thanks, great addition to Mail.app.

How do I see / put two lines in the Mail list?

    Cheers,
    Ashley.

  21. Simon says:

If I install it there is no icon in e-Mails preferences. Maybe widemail has problems with the already installed PGP-Plugin which resides also in the mails preferences menu.

  22. Brian says:

I don’t know if there is an incompatibility with something I have on my system. I had installed some plugin a long ways back when leopard first came out to get the widescreen 3-pane view into Mail. When I install WideMail 0.5.0 I can’t get it to display correctly. I see no messages at all and I can’t click on anything in the Mailboxes pane.

  23. Brian says:

    Note re: my comment.

I have discovered that I have “WidescreenMailPlugin.mailbundle” located at Users/Brian/Library/Mail/Bundles.

Any ideas on how to get 0.5.0 working properly?

  24. Manuel says:

Thanks for the great plugin, but I have the same problem as Jan: “After the first start everything is alright but when I close Mail and try to reopen it, the Mail window won’t show up.”

  25. Rick says:

I’m having the same issue as Ido, Stephen and Paul.

    Thanks for making this.

  26. Bernardo says:

hi, i’ve got the same problem as Rober Günther, Jan and Guru. it works correctly right after installing it (the first time i open mail.app). as soon as i close and reopen mail.app the message window ’s gone… …it reappears if i click “Postfach -> Gehe zu -> Eingang” (sorry, i dont know exactly how these menu entries are called in the english version, maybe “mailbox -> go to -> inbox” or something like that), but still then no single mail is shown and the application hangs up…

maybe this is just a bug in the german osx version – i’d be thankful if you could fix that, because at the moment the only way to get mail.app back to work correctly is uninstalling widemail…

my config: mba, osx 10.5.2 german

  27. Patrick says:

    Hi!

First i wanted to say awesome app. I always was looking for this kind of Mail plugin. But i also have the problem like the other guys.
After installing and the first start everthing works fine but after restarting (the second start) nothing appears and Mail won’t really open.

I have OS 10.5.2 with Mail 3.2 German

    Could you fix this please?

  28. Anon says:

    Great update thanks!!
Please apply the set colors to the widemail field. I use many filters that set a background color.
