If you have issues with WideMail crashing please try the bug workarounds in my previous post and also check what other plugins you have installed in Mail.app WideMail has a few incompatibilities with plugins such as: GrowlMail, Letterbox.

To completely remove WideMail from your system follow these steps:

Delete the files located at:
Where ~ is your home directory

~/Library/Mail/Bundles/WideMail.mailbundle

~/Library/Preferences/com.daneharnett.widemail.plist

Bug Workarounds

Saturday, December 26th, 2009

A couple of bugs seem to be common and I believe I have a workaround for them.

If Mail.app is crashing or freezing while scrolling or the WideMail column will not stay between mailbox switches try these options:

Delete the WideMail prefs located at: ~/Library/Preferences/com.daneharnett.widemail.plist
where (~ is your home directory)

WideMail has a problem with “messages with blank subjects” to rectify this add a character or extra token to the line that contains “Subject”.

Hopefully this helps everyone and I’ll be working to fix these bugs in the near future.

Merry Christmas! WideMail for Snow Leopard Public Beta

Friday, December 25th, 2009

Hi All,

I’m very pleased to announce the pre-release of WideMail for Snow Leopard!

At this time WideMail is in public beta status (in other words: try it at your own risk, however it should be fairly stable).

This version is available for SNOW LEOPARD ONLY! It should work on 10.6.0, 10.6.1 & 10.6.2

Each new OS release will require an update to WideMail.

If you require WideMail for 10.5.x then you should use version 0.5.1

You can download WideMail for Snow Leopard here.

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!

Dane Harnett & WideMail Team.
